Past KidYak events were an incredible experience for both instructors and students.  The first event took 6 students ages 6-13 who had never been in a kayak and turned them into boaters.  By the end of the second day they had been peeling in and out of eddies, ferrying across mild currents, and most proudly surfing a small wave.  The last day we managed to take all participants including the great parents (and CoCo the dog) on a trip on the river.  Special thanks to Abby, Kirsten, Cory, Caleb, Zack, Elijah and our special co-instructor Lauren Buress of Jackson Kayak.  Also a great big thanks to the best kayak company in the world, Jackson Kayak, for their support of our event.

Getting ready to stretch early in the morning.
Kid Rock, waiting their turn.

KidYak is an intensive weekend of instruction for Kids ONLY!  This weekend begins with an introduction to whitewater gear and boats.  The real instruction begins the next morning when the students kick it into high gear and learn the important concepts and strokes that are an essential part of powering your boat.  By the end of the day students should be able to paddle themselves confidently in a kayak.  With the correct progression and grasp of concepts the KidYak mini-camp ends the next day with a real river trip!
